Healthy food doesn’t have to be bland – in fact, it SHOULDN’T be! Sticking to a diet is a lot easier if you enjoy the food you’re eating. Spices that boost your metabolism are a great way to give your food some flair and help you burn fat !

Spices and your metabolism

Try adding these 8 fat-burning spices to your daily diet!

Black pepper

There have been lots of successful studies done on the weight loss benefits of black pepper. A few twists of the pepper grinder can boost metabolism and prevent the formation of fat cells, making it a great spice you probably already have on hand.

Cardamom

A popular Indian spice with a very unique flavor, cardamom warms your body to boost metabolism.

Cardamom packs a big flavor in a little pinch. Try it with grilled chicken or shrimp, meatballs, or a dash to add flavor to your coffee.

Cayenne Pepper

Time to spice it up a little! The spiciness of cayenne raises the body’s internal temperature, boosting metabolism and burning extra calories with no extra effort!

Adding this spice to your meal can help you burn up to 100 calories per meal.

Afraid of spiciness? Try adding a dash to your eggs or soup and build from there. The benefits are too great to skip this spice!

Cinnamon

Remember that fad a few years ago where people were challenged to eat a spoonful of cinnamon in under 60 seconds? I don’t recommend trying that! I do, however, recommend adding cinnamon to your spice collection and using it often!

Cinnamon stimulates insulin activity and aids in stabilizing your blood sugar.

It helps with digestion which can increase metabolism giving your energy level a kick.

Cinnamon is great in just about anything you make! Soups, meats, veggies, tea, coffee…

Cumin

Well known for its nutty flavor, cumin can help you burn up to three times more fat! This metabolism booster is also high in iron which can help energy levels. Not to mention it can add some amazing flavor to your food!

Try adding some to your steamed veggies, salad dressing, or steak!

Ginger

Ginger helps control blood sugar levels and has been shown to decrease appetite, settle an upset stomach, and increase metabolism! It’s a great aid for digestion and remedy for indigestion.

Try adding it to your tea, salad, fish, squash, or chicken.

Mustard

Could mustard be a perfect keto companion?

For starters, mustard is high in fat and protein and low in carbs. It has been shown to increase metabolic activity by up to 25% and lower cholesterol levels.

It can also be a great “secret” ingredient in cream sauces, veggie chili, and ham!

Turmeric

Known for its flavor, vibrant color, and health benefits, turmeric can help your body burn fat and combat inflammation. It’s also a warming spice that can increase your body heat, boosting your metabolism. It has also been suggested that turmeric can help prevent weight gain once you’ve lost weight by blocking growth and expansion of fat tissue and preventing fat re-growth.

Best known as a staple in curry dishes, turmeric is versatile and adds a kick to your eggs, cauliflower rice, chicken breasts, brussels sprouts…just about anything!

Now, get out there and spice up your day while boosting your metabolism!
